Here at Brander Sleep Wellness, we take the time to get to know you and your needs for oral appliance therapy. We start the process with a consultation to explain how oral appliances can help you with your obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Brander will examine your mouth, teeth, and airway to determine the efficacy of oral appliance therapy.
After your initial consultation, you would get a full workup. During this appointment, Dr. Brander will complete a dental examination, including a determination of the current health and prognosis of oral tissue that might be affected by obstructive sleep apnea. We use a pharyngometer and rheometer to measure the cross-sectional distance of the airway and nasal cavity. This allows us to determine the accurate position of the lower jaw to effectively improve airway obstruction.
Follow-up appointments will be scheduled 1 week and 1 month after you begin wearing your oral appliance. Dr. Brander will determine if any adjustments need to be made to the oral appliance based on repeat testing and patient communication.
A follow-up sleep study would be conducted to ensure oral appliance therapy is improving your obstructive sleep apnea. We will communicate your oral appliance therapy progress with your Physician as needed.
