Environmental Justice

Environmental justice is a critical social and environmental movement that advocates for the equitable distribution of environmental benefits and burdens, regardless of race, income, or socio-economic status. It seeks to address the disproportionate impact of environmental hazards, pollution, and climate change on marginalized and vulnerable communities. Environmental justice aims to rectify historic and systemic environmental injustices by promoting policies, regulations, and initiatives that ensure fair access to clean air, water, and land, as well as opportunities for meaningful participation in environmental decision-making. This movement underscores the intersection of environmental issues with social and racial equity, striving to create a more sustainable and just world where everyone can live in a healthy and safe environment.
