Interstate (ICPC)

Utah Adoption Law Center, nestled in Payson, Utah, specializes in Interstate (ICPC) adoptions facilitated by Step-Mothers or Step-Fathers, navigating the intricate process governed by the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC), a law enacted across all 50 states. Before a child can transition from their home state to Utah, coordination and approval between the respective ICPC offices are imperative. Despite the extensive paperwork involved, including a comprehensive home study, medical and educational histories, and often temporary guardianship arrangements, many adopting parents find the endeavor worthwhile. Following a six-month period, adopting parents can petition the court for the finalization of the adoption, marking the culmination of a journey towards expanding their family across state lines.
