Driver's Education


The Driver's Education program at Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) provides comprehensive training that adheres to the Georgia Department of Driver Services approved curriculum. This program is designed to develop safety, skill, and confidence, creating responsible drivers. It includes 30 hours of classroom or virtual instruction and six hours of practical behind-the-wheel experience, complying with Joshua's Law requirements. Classroom sessions cover road safety, traffic laws, defensive driving, and the psychological factors of driving, using interactive methods and experienced instructors. Practical sessions offer real-world driving practice to enhance vehicle control, hazard recognition, and decision-making skills. Various course options are available, and successful completion may qualify for insurance benefits.
