The Sernas family, pioneers in the world of mezcal, has a legacy that spans back to 1927 when Eugenio Sernas Sr. first cultivated Agave in Matatlan, Oaxaca. By 1955, he established one of the first five registered palenques and Mezcal brands in the region, setting the standard for authenticity and excellence. In the face of modernization attempts in the 1970s that aimed to compromise the quality and authenticity of mezcal by introducing additives and shortcuts, Juan Sernas and other like-minded producers organized a historic strike along Iturbide Road to uphold the integrity of traditional mezcal production. This stand led to better oversight and a commitment to preserving the genuine art of crafting mezcal. Today, Eugenio Sernas Diaz carries forward the family's legacy with dedication and purpose, ensuring that Victorioso Mezcal remains a symbol of artisanal craftsmanship and unique flavors to be cherished, savored, and kissed with every sip.
